Match Overview
The second day of the 2026 League of Legends World Championship Swiss Stage featured a highly anticipated clash between two top LCK teams, Gen.G and Hanwha Life Esports (HLE). Following their recent encounter in the LCK grand final, where Gen.G secured a 3-1 victory, both teams were eager to establish dominance on the international stage.
Game Highlights
Gen.G came into the match with momentum after defeating the LPL's Shanghai Invictus Gaming, while HLE had secured a win against Top Esports. As the match began, both teams engaged in early skirmishes, but Gen.G quickly gained the upper hand. A critical moment occurred when HLE attempted to ambush midlaner Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon, only for jungler Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu to turn the play in Gen.G's favor, leading to multiple kills.
Despite HLE’s attempts to respond, including successful plays from top laner Choi “Zeus” Woo-je and botlaner Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong, Gen.G maintained control. By mid-game, Gen.G had established a substantial 10,000 gold lead and continued to pressure HLE relentlessly.
Conclusion
Ultimately, Gen.G finished the match in 29 minutes, destroying HLE's Nexus and securing a significant 16,000 gold advantage. With this victory, Gen.G stands at 2-0 in the Swiss Stage, needing just one more win to advance to the Knockout Stage. Conversely, HLE drops to 1-1 and must secure two more wins to continue their journey in the tournament. The competition for the eight Knockout Stage spots remains intense as Worlds 2026 progresses.
