Valorant at the 2027 Esports World Cup
Riot Games has officially announced that Valorant will be part of the 2027 Esports World Cup, marking its third consecutive year in the tournament. This prestigious event aims to unite the leading organizations in the competitive scene, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.
Changes to the Competitive Structure
The 2027 season promises to be transformative, as Riot will overhaul the existing championship framework. The current structure, characterized by rigid leagues with established partner teams, will shift to a more inclusive model. This transition will diminish the guaranteed spots for franchise teams in international competitions, allowing for a broader range of tournaments and enhanced access for independent organizations. Notably, LOUD has secured its place among the official partners despite these changes.
Highlights from the Previous Season
Brazil's esports scene has experienced a remarkable year, highlighted by LOUD's victory at the Valorant Champions 2026 in Shanghai, where they became the first organization to win with entirely different rosters. After a challenging start, LOUD’s roster revitalized with key players, including Enzo “tkzin” Zimiani and David “DaviH” Cruz, helping them reach significant milestones in the VCT Americas Stage 2 final.
Upcoming Events
The VCT Americas Kickoff is set for January 2027 in São Paulo, bringing together top teams from the continent and introducing a revised qualification format. While the specific dates, competition format, and prize details for the upcoming tournaments are yet to be announced, the inclusion of Valorant in the eSports Foundation's schedule underscores the game's growing prestige within the esports community.
