Invictus Gaming has clinched the final spot for the League of Legends World Championship 2026, defeating JD Gaming 3-1 in the LPL Regional Finals. This marks the return of key players Rookie and TheShy to the prestigious tournament.
IG's Path to Worlds 2026
Invictus Gaming (IG) achieved a significant milestone by defeating JD Gaming (JDG) 3-1 in the lower-bracket final of the LPL 2026 Regional Finals on September 19. This victory secures IG the LPL’s fourth and final berth for the League of Legends World Championship 2026.
With this win, IG joins Anyone’s Legend, Bilibili Gaming, and Top Esports as representatives from the LPL. The defeat means JDG, who finished third in this event for the third consecutive year, will not qualify for Worlds.
Series Highlights
IG began the series strongly, winning the first game in 33 minutes. JiaQi dominated with Tristana, achieving six kills and two assists, while Rookie contributed four kills and five assists on Syndra. In the second game, IG extended their lead to 2-0, with Wei's early control on Qiyana playing a pivotal role. JiaQi maintained his strong performance with nine kills and five assists on Ezreal, and Rookie recorded five kills and 11 assists.
JDG managed to stay in contention by winning the third game, with Junjia's impressive 11 kills and 11 assists on Trundle. However, IG sealed the series with a decisive fourth game victory, confirming their participation in Worlds 2026.
