Natus Vincere has knocked out Team Spirit, the world No. 1, from the PGL Masters Bucharest 2026, setting up a quarter-final match against Vitality, who will be using stand-in jL. The playoffs, featuring a single-elimination format, will conclude on October 31.
NAVI's Upset Over Team Spirit
In a surprising turn of events at the PGL Masters Bucharest 2026, Natus Vincere eliminated the world No. 1 Team Spirit before the playoffs. This match marked a significant moment, as Spirit's elimination means they finish with a 2-3 record in the group stage.
The match itself was a rollercoaster, starting with NAVI dominating Cache before Spirit equalized on Dust2. Ultimately, NAVI secured the series on Anubis, marking Spirit's first defeat to NAVI since February 2025.
NAVI's Road to the Playoffs
NAVI's path to the playoffs was marked by inconsistencies. They began strong with two consecutive 2-0 victories over G2 and FURIA, although their match against G2 included three overtimes. However, they experienced a downturn, suffering losses to BetBoom and Vitality, which forced them into the 2-2 decider match against Team Spirit.
Upcoming Quarter-Final Against Vitality
NAVI will face Vitality in the quarter-finals, a rematch after Vitality defeated them in the group stage. Vitality's lineup will not be at full strength, as Justinas ‘jL’ Lekavicius is filling in. This match is crucial as teams aim to build momentum heading into the upcoming PGL Major Singapore 2026.
The playoffs of this S-Tier event, featuring 16 teams, utilize a single-elimination format and will conclude on October 31. The financial stakes are also high, with quarter-final losers set to earn $50,000, while those finishing ninth to eleventh take home $31,250.
